College and Career Planning

The counseling program at Palmer High School is designed to assist students in all phases of the post-secondary planning process.  Our goal is to assist students in making more informed choices about their futures which may include college, trade or technical school, military service or entering the workforce.

The post-secondary planning process at Palmer begins during the freshman year as counselors meet with students and conduct classroom guidance focused on achieving success in high school and developing a four-year Individual Career and Academic Plan or ICAP.  Counselors meet with students individually and as a group during the sophomore and junior years to discuss ICAPS, course selection, college planning timelines, college entrance exams and college entrance requirements among other things.  The senior year counselors continue to meet with students in the classroom and meet with them individually to guide them through the college selection and application process.
