WORLD LANGUAGES CLASSES
It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that students earn a grade of “C” or better in a class before proceeding to the next level of any foreign language.
9th-grade students who want to have the option to complete a full IB Diploma Program in their upper years should enroll in a Spanish, French or Chinese class at either the 1,2 Honors or 3,4 Honors level as appropriate. This is because students will need to be prepared for success in IB language exams by 11th or 12th grade. German is not approved as an IB testing language at Palmer.

Emphasis is placed on listening, speaking, reading, translating, writing and discussing examples of poetry, drama, and narrative prose. A project on the novel is required.

Students may elect to take the Standard level or the High Level IB exam and will receive college credit or placement based on exam results. The class is conducted entirely in Spanish.

Lastly, this course will prepare students to participate in a global economy that requires fluency in more than one language.
